Melding the modern with the traditional is commonplace in Italy, where new movements are seemingly less about the rejection of past ideas than integrating the new and old into the cultural heritage.
For instance, this wall cabinet (ca. '60s) has echoes of the Renaissance in the precise inlay and marquetry work, the Victorian in the leg details, the Art Deco in the etched mirror and the pattern of veneered chevrons, and the Modern in its geometry and materials.
The cabinet has 3 doors with fully functioning locks and keys, making it a great bar to sequester your finer spirits, but also anything that you'd like to store near an entryway or living room, like piles of mail, board games, that Bop-It you shamefully possess and half ironically suggest playing at a party.
The central cabinet is lined with mirrors, while the other two are light wood. The exterior wood appears to be a species of Rosewood, interrupted at times by thin strips of maple trim. On top of the bar is a sheet of glass.
In very good condition, with minimal wear and tear.
