Freed from the frankly hideous binds of its original finish - a thick, heavy brown stain that was closer in appearance to plastic army men than wood furniture - the natural elm wood is now allowed to breathe and show the characteristics that make it compatible with a contemporary home. Rippling waves of grain intersect and create depth on the flat surfaces; features that gel nicely with brick, hardwoods, and any plant life you may keep around the house. We used shellac as the base finish both to deepen the grain characteristics and to lend a golden-amber luster that the wood yearns for.
One cabinet is an open display/bar with a top shelf, and the other is a 3-drawer bachelor chest.
Each chest is 36L x 16W x 29.25H
